Parks Canada Agency (PCA) is currently developing a project to restore an old section of Route 132 that was abandoned in 2014 in favour of an alternative route that is currently in use, in the Beaver sector of Forillon National Park. The project aims to renaturalize the vast majority of the 5.9 kilometers of abandoned road to reconnect the forest and aquatic environments located on either side of this former road corridor. It will reduce terrestrial connectivity problems for carnivores such as American marten and fisher, as well as aquatic connectivity by removing a dozen culverts to ensure the free passage of fish, including American eel. Ultimately, the project also aims to increase the area of natural habitat by reducing the area of disturbed habitat, so as to enable the population or visitors to the national park to reap the benefits. | Government contract · CanPursue
